Born in Melbourne, Julian moved to Sydney as a child and attended Oakhill College in the suburb of Castle Hill. He played rugby league as a youth before taking up basketball at age 13.
At age 18, Julian was discovered by the NSW Institute of Sport after he earned a NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council major basketball award in 2004 while attending Oakhill College. Later that year, he signed with the West Sydney Razorbacks as a development player for the 2004–05 NBL season. He made his NBL debut and his lone appearance of the season on 10 October 2004 against the Brisbane Bullets.
One of the best big men in Sydney basketball history, he has played 129 games for two clubs ( West Sydney Razorbacks & Sydney Kings). Julian has averaged 13.3 points & 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting 48.7% from the field. Sydney Kings captain from 2010 – 2012. All- NBL first team in 2010/11 season, finished second in NBL MVP voting 2010/11, lead the league in rebounding and block shots in 2010/11 and again in 2012, had a very rare 20-20 game with 20 point, 21 rebound against Adelaide in 2011/12 season, Also averaged a double double ( 16.4ppg & 10.8 rag) 2011/12 season.
Julian was invited to the NBA’s Golden State Warriors pre-season camp following his NBL first team selection. He was then Invited to play in the NBA summer League in 2012 with the Los Angeles Lakers with 21 points in his final game.
Julian has been lucky enough to play in countries all over the world including The Netherlands, Israel, Poland,Turkey, Dubai and Lebanon. Signing a 6 year contract with Sagesse in Lebanon in 2012 at the time was one of the biggest deals in Lebanese Basketball History, he spent 3 productive years at the Club racking up accolades and honourable mentions along the way.
Julian was also a member of the Australian National Team Squad throughout his Basketball Career.
