No1 Draft Pick Media Release – Exciting Partnership Announcement
No1 Draft Pick Management
No1 Draft Pick is thrilled to announce a new partnership that will take the emerging business in an exciting new direction and provide even more opportunities for Australia’s aspiring basketball players.
The company has joined forces with MyKey People Management to create a full service basketball organisation that will not only continue to provide specialised camps and expert instruction to junior ballplayers from ages 6 to 18, but will also feature a management arm designed to assist players through the next stages of their sporting careers.
Helmed by respected player manager Tahi Martin and boasting a large talent pool, MyKey People Management now falls under the No1 Draft Pick banner to help drive the recent impressive growth of Australian basketball.
No1 Draft Pick Managing Director Danny Kordahi hailed the partnership as an important step in the development of the company.
“Part of the journey of No1 Draft Pick is to give our attendees an opportunity to grow and have a pathway to elite level basketball,” Mr Kordahi said.
“What better fit than to start a management business that gives the children the opportunity to chase their dreams of being a professional athlete and also gives them something to aspire to?”
“This is a great opportunity for all involved to capitalise on the resurgence of basketball in Australia. No1 Draft Pick is all about promoting the game of basketball; doing it well and, most importantly, doing it in a professional manner.”
For his part, Tahi Martin is thrilled to become involved with the No1 Draft Pick Team.
“I’m really excited to become involved with what is really the first full service basketball management company in Australia,” Mr Martin said.
“It’s great to be a part of an organisation that looks after everything, from grassroots to the elite level and now right through to professional management.”
“I’ve known Danny for a long time and greatly respect his entrepreneurial skills and business acumen. And the opportunity to work with Steve Carfino, who is an NBL Hall of Famer, is exciting. Steve will prove to be a great mentor to the young guys as they continue their journey to the professional ranks.”
“Joining forces with No1 Draft Pick is a no-brainer as far as I’m concerned. This relationship gives me a terrific chance to grow and achieve my goals.”
The new company has already won a significant victory with the announcement that Indian national team captain, seven foot centre Amritpal Singh, has become the first player from India to sign a full contract with an Australian National Basketball League club, with Singh to wear the iconic purple and gold of the Sydney Kings in the 2017/2018 NBL season.
Amritpal’s move to the Kings could not have come at a better time. He has been given an extraordinary opportunity to represent the NBL on basketball’s ultimate stage when he travels to the United States with his new teammates in October to play a preseason game against the NBA’s Utah Jazz.
No1 Draft Pick has been a trailblazer in its engagement with Indian basketball and Mr Kordahi was left in no doubt of the significance of Amritpal joining the Sydney Kings.
“This is a huge coup for No1 Draft Pick,” Mr Kordahi commented.
“Our academy was been instrumental in sending out Damian Cotter to India to work out the Indian National Team, and we then brought out four of those Indian team members to participate in the NBL Combine earlier this year.”
“The end result with Amritpal signing with the Kings is something that will go down in NBL history and it’s a first for us. This has the potential to open the doors to the Indian market which I’m convinced is a sleeping giant in global basketball.”
No1 Draft Pick will continue to run its highly successful school holiday camps, Learn to Play programs and elite basketball sessions.
As a FIBA Accredited Agent, Mr Martin will manage all player agreements under the No1 Draft Pick banner, which includes all current players as well as any future signings.
